June 9,2008. Coffee aroama filled the camper and a plate of eggs with hash browns, gritts and bacon. After discussing plans for today's activities I repacked the folding chairs.
Our neighbors were just stiring as we left on our new adventure.
On Hwy 313, Mineral Bottom Road turn off just ahead.
Mineral Bottom Rd.
Mineral Bottom Road information board.
Mineral Bottom Rd. has some shallow ruts.
The road was hard packed for the most part with some damp patches.
A lot of green shurbs along the roadway.
Along the way we spotted this hawk in flight, I was luck to snap this picture.
Mineral Bottom Horses
Horses the in the road.
Close encounter of the four legged kind
Almost to the switch back area.
Mineral Bottom Road switch backs are easier to drive than WRT.
Mineral Bottom Switch Backs
Our interchange destation, to left is to WRT on the Green River side.
Getting closer, the river looks pretty high.
Only 4 miles, a piece of cake.
The road continuals to be fairly smooth.
Green River to the right and looking full.
This side of WRT seems different.
Entring Canyonlands from BLM area.
We are here.
Mineral To Canyonlands
On this side of Canyonlands it didn't as far down as on the Colardo River side.
First bicyclist of the day. I talked to their chase truck driver and was informed that the Hardscrabble area was still flooded over.
I parked the TC where we could walk the road and check out condition ahead.
Walking the road was easy and so far no extented overhang were seen.
Yes, that's the Green River to the right of the road and you can see to the left sights of flood over are still there.
Looking back at the TC,its pulled into a spot off the road.
We made it to the Labyrin Campsite are in short order. Walking along the road to here allowed me to scope out all the overhangs and I only saw one overhang of concern
Labyrin is right next to the Green River and just up from the Talyor Canyon road.
Offical campsite Post.
The road beyound Labyrin heading to theHardscrabble area. We are walking back to the TC.
Here we go! Driving the TC on the WRT with a wall of rock on one side and a drop off into the Green River on the left.
WRT on the Green River
WRT on Green River 1
Plently of room.
Almost enought room to make a 3 point turn around.
This is the last tight point before getting back to Labyrin Campsite.
Finnaly away from the cliff hang road and going around Labyrin Campsite.
Shortly after this area WRT becomes a sandy road.
Driving thru a sandy wash.
Humm, I wonder how much more of this road there is?
Small shurbs and bushes growing thru the sand.
Well I got my answer about far we can go.
